about

Fabric's debut album Apes is the product of a evening at Rolling Stock Recording Rooms, where Shaun, Mick and Ronny improvised freely together. These improvisations have been turned into an album which flows together, telling an abstract story which can change organically depending on the listener. Fabric has been playing together for the best part of three years, and from this have created a strong sound together, caught between free jazz, rock and rumble and sound sculpture.

The album features 9 tracks of varying densities and intensities.

Overture -
A short guide to what lies ahead. (proceed, if you dare!)

Tune As Value -
This piece is based off a tune, but develops into something else entirely.

It will Pass -
A short thought on time itself.

Free Speech -
In the age of Fake News, even the freest of speech gets censored. Digital hiccups or more sinister motives at work?

Alert -
A tribute to the spirit of Albert Ayler and the movement that revolved around him.

Earth Abides -
Sometimes things happen for a reason, and sometimes things are more organic. No matter what, earth abides.

Now, All Together -
Three little solo's which develop into a nice little trio.

Dr. One -
A patient meditation on nothing and everything.

Take a Break -
A final thought.

about

Fabric Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne trio Fabric find themselves caught between free jazz, rock and rumble and sound sculpture. Stream of consciousness improvising that probes and questions the state of play, but never settling on an answer.
